Idents
I had a quick go using Motion to create some ident graphics for our trailer. These play at the start of the trailer and are used as identifiers for our production company. This means that they need to be recognisable from other production companies and also be visually memorable, other factors that are included in dents are its use of motion and space to create it. As we are still quite new to using motion I was not able to fully capture the potential of it to produce graphics, but did try. In The first ident, i created a swirling spiral tunnel effect; this creates a very cool introduction to the ident as it is quite short, but also surprises the viewer... much like a horror film! At the 'end' of the spiral the the words 'ABACUS Productions' fade in, and in the space between and bordering above and below, three spectral patterns float across the screen. These look cool and have a mathematic theme similar to an abacus. This ident does have some cool visual features, however, it is not very typical of a horror film intro and may feel cluttered or fast. The second Ident is more simple, I drew and animated an abacus, on the three of the bars there are balls which move as if it were an abacus. When they all align back into place the title moves in on one of the bars. I personally prefer these ident more over the first although again it does not really conform to horror title, instead it conforms more closely to an eighties comedy ident. Although one thing i'd like to take from this one is the gradient of dark red to black on the balls as these look quite horror themed.

Titles
When I created this short title it was the first time using motion in a very long time, so again it was not up to a high quality. Although it does show some of the ideas that we'd like to incorporate into our title, like for example the relation of light to darkness, and maybe smoke. The text is a mask that is meant to have a light ray shining through, and illuminating the screen, but I was not able to create this in the time we had. Similar to one of the shots we have planned to use in the trailer, when the door opens to illuminate the hall, an example of this can be seen in our recce.

Graphic
In this graphic, again sticking with the theme of light, i used a mask to show lots of beams of light beams moving around behind. I find this made quite a cool effect, it shows the text well without detracting from it and also creates a bit of an uneasy feeling.
