The Unique selling point in this film is the seemingly innocent girl, who starts off as a damsel in distress actually turns out to be the violent one. This trailer has enigma as the audience doesn't really know if woman is a villain or a good guy. There is also enigma as we see clips of someone in bad health and the woman's attachment to a man who appears ill, as we see her crying and she says, 'I don't know how I'm going to do this without you.'. This is never mentioned again in the trailer so it leaves us question how this fits in in the storyline.
In one frame of text is states 'FROM THE EXCUTIVE PRODUCER OF PARANORMAL ACTIVITY', and 'INSIDIOUS'. This makes the audience more likely to go see the film as those two films are very successful and if someone likes those films they are more likely going to watch this one.
There are lots of 'Thud' sounds. This creates tension as its gives the filming of something scary coming towards us. These sounds tend to be in sync with the clips fading to black, creating tension and setting the genre of horror and/or thriller.
